My Counselling Approach

I approach every person and every session with genuine curiosity rather than assumption, because your story is the only reliable guide to what you actually need.

You are the expert in your own life. My role is not to direct you toward answers, but to walk alongside you as you find your own, trusting the capacity you already carry.

I believe you are not your problem. Narrative work helps separate who you are from the story a struggle has been telling about you, so you can start authoring a different one, one that makes room for your strengths, values and the parts of your story that have been overshadowed. Sometimes the parts of us that are hurting are younger than we are, carrying old beliefs or unmet needs from earlier in life. When it fits, I also draw on inner child and parts work to help care for those parts, rather than fighting or silencing them.

Alongside what is difficult, I am always paying attention to what is already working, your strengths, your capacity, the moments that go right. Growth is not only about fixing what hurts, it is also about building on what is already good.

Rather than spending our time dissecting everything that has gone wrong, I am curious about what has worked, even a little, and what a better version of tomorrow could look like. We build from there.

Emotions do not only live in our thoughts, they show up in the body too, a tight chest, a racing heart, a held breath. I bring gentle awareness to what is happening in the body during our work together, not as a separate technique, but as one more way of understanding what is really going on beneath the surface.

These are not separate boxes I move between, they are threads that weave through every session, curiosity holding the space, the body and the story both offering information, your strengths as the foundation we build from.
