Parent Support
Parenting brings its own weight, alongside whatever your child or teen is navigating. It is easy to feel like you are figuring it out alone. I offer two ways to get support in this role, clinical counselling and parent coaching, depending on what fits your situation best.
Clinical Support for Parents
Parenting can bring up its own grief, anxiety and exhaustion. I offer counselling for parents who want support with the emotional weight of the role itself, not just strategies for managing behaviour.
This might look like processing the impact of a child's diagnosis, working through conflict or disconnection in the parent-child relationship, or finding space to be supported as a person, not only as a parent. This is appropriate when mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression or trauma, are part of what you are carrying.
Parent Coaching
I also offer parent coaching, a structured, goal-oriented service focused specifically on the parenting role, how you communicate, set boundaries and stay connected as challenges come up in your family. It is not clinical treatment.
Parent coaching is for any parent who feels like they could use extra support. You might be:
-
Feeling like you are constantly in conflict with your child or teen
-
Sensing distance or disconnection and not knowing how to bridge it
-
Navigating a big transition like divorce, a new school or a recent diagnosis
-
Feeling reactive and wanting to respond differently
-
Parenting a child with big emotions, anxiety or oppositional behaviour
-
Wanting to strengthen your relationship before things get harder
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from coaching. Wanting to show up better is reason enough.
This work draws largely on Non-Violent Resistance principles and attachment theory, with a focus on rebuilding connection rather than managing behaviour. While I work with parents of children of all ages, I have a particular focus on families navigating the teenage years.
